Tuesday, November 7, 2023 will be an eLearning Day only for our Six Mile Elementary and Project GO students due to ongoing repairs related to a water main break and probable water outages at these sites. Six Mile and Project GO students will not attend school in-person.
Students at R.C. Edwards and D.W. Daniel High can return to school in-person tomorrow.
We have been working to receive updates throughout the day and wanted to make contact with you tonight to give as early notice as possible for the eLearning Day on Tuesday (11/7/23).
eLearning Days allow students to make up days missed to inclement weather or other emergencies by completing a set of assignments within 5 school days (Nov. 14). For students in grades K5-12, most or all of these assignments can be completed on the student's school-issued Chromebook. Students in earlier grades may also be given a list of traditional assignments to complete within five days. Your child's teacher will communicate the details of the assignments for your child's class. Students who do not complete their assignments will be counted as absent for the day.
As mentioned yesterday, this situation could change. In order to hold school, utilities such as water are a necessity to ensure the safety of our students. Pending any further complications in the repair process, our plan at this time is for students to return to Six Mile and Project GO on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
ALL other Pickens County schools (including R.C. Edwards and D.W. Daniel) will attend in-person.
For any questions or if support is needed, please contact your child's school as staff will be ready to respond as needed. We apologize for the short notice and thank you for your flexibility and cooperation.
